Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 1st Warm-up game

Bangladesh register a comprehensive win in this warm-up game. A good workout for them with both bat and ball. Sri Lanka opted to bat on a good pitch in the afternoon and seemed set for a big score after a strong start. But from 104/1, regular wickets dented their progress. Mahedi Hasan was at the forefront in that regard for Bangladesh, picking up a three-fer, while Miraz bowled a lovely spell of 1/32 as well in his 10 overs. Due to their efforts, Sri Lanka were restricted to just 263. In response, Bangladesh were in control right through, starting with a 131-run opening stand between Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan which set them on their way. Tanzid scored 84, Litton 61, and Miraz, who came in at three, scored an unbeaten 67, while Rahim also got a decent hit in the middle. Mehidy Hasan Miraz:  We wouldn't have batted first. We have prepared for a couple of months and it has been a good opportunity for the players playing the World Cup. We have a few changes today, lots of guy...

The Indian contingent have won six mixed doubles medals - two gold, silver and bronze, each - in Asian Games history. ICC World Cup 2023 India Final Squad Announcement

Image
ICC World Cup 2023 India’s Final Squad Announcement Live Updates: Rohit Sharma led Indian side for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is set to be announced today. While the provisional squad was announced earlier this month, the deadline for submitting the final squad for coveted ICC tournament is today. Any changes in the World Cup squad after today will have to be approved by the ICC.  The 15-member squad is likely to remain more or less unchanged with one exception of injury-ridden Axar Patel. Patel is currently out of the side owing to a quadriceps strain and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had found a place in his absence during the recently concluded series against Australia.  Reports suggest that Patel is likely to be fit before India begins their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, Ashwin's performance in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia has made the job of selectors difficult. The 37-year-old could add s...

Gill at number 2 in odi ranking

Image
India opening batter Shubman Gill is at a career-high  second position  in the latest ICC Men's ODI batting rankings, making him the highest-ranked batter among three Indian players currently in the top-10. This is the first time since January 2019 that three Indian players have featured so highly in the rankings. Gill has been brilliant in 2023 and could become the first batter to hit 1000 runs in this calender year. Gill has scored 904 runs in 16 matches at an average of 64.51, while striking at 105.31. Gill was the leading run-scorer in IPL 2023, while winning the ICC Player of the Month award in January. He also became the youngest player to hit a double hundred in the 50-over game earlier this year, when he scored 206 runs against New Zealand

India won Odi series against Austrlia

Image
Time for the trophy presentation and Rohit invites KL - who was the captain in the first two games to come and share it with him. That's nice. Then the entire team with a lot of local Saurashtra players who helped out on the field today come together to pose for the cameras. Rohit makes sure he acknowledges the local players as they beam for the cameras. That brings to an end the series and it's the last one before the all important big event. India looking strong but still have a few things to work on. Same with Australia who will be happy to head there with a win. Also Shubman Gill was presented with the Player of the Series  award which Rohit collected as Gill is not here.

Indian women cricket team won gold in Asia games 🥇

All smiles in the Indian camp. So that brings an end to our live coverage folks. Jemimah Rodrigues was the top scorer of this competition, while Pooja Vastrakar was the top wicket-taker for India Women. There were contributions from other players too, and it was a pretty good team effort eventually. India Women were the favourites at the start of the tournament, and they have managed to come out on top in challenging conditions. They'll be pleased and proud of this particular achievement and so will be the fans of Indian cricket. For now, it's a goodbye from our side!
